Here’s my story.
First, I was a teacher. I loved working with children, and met some of the most inspiring minds (both adult and kid-sized) in the classroom. Most seasoned teachers eventually experience a burnout moment, and my number came up after nineteen years of teaching. I left one job feeling drained and exhausted. With my husband’s blessing, I took a sabbatical to rest and recuperate.
That’s when I picked up my camera.
I’d dabbled with photography for years. As a teenager, I loved taking pictures and self-taught my way around an old Canon. During my time away from the classroom, I delved deep into the world of photography and fell in love with the blend of artistry and technical skill behind visual storytelling.
My journey in photography has ranged from family portraits, event photography, and providing communications and storytelling support for independent schools.
I’d love to help.
My little sister once complained, “I never have a decent photo of me.” She’s a busy mom of three, so her children, husband, and the endless mountains of laundry take priority in her life. Not selfies.
But it didn't sit well with me. My sister is a superhero, and beautiful inside and out. She’s the kind of person who should be followed around with her own team of paparazzi. I figured if photographs were a way to capture the beauty in this world, there wasn’t a better person to frame than my sister. My camera has since become my way of spotlighting the unique glow of family, friends, and clients.
Everyone has their own version of a best side. I’m here to shine a spotlight on yours.
Do you need a few ‘good pictures’ of yourself?
Do you need family shots for a holiday card?
Are you celebrating a special family event and need someone to document the evening?
Are you balking at the prices of a full photography session and wondering why it costs so much to get a few decent pictures?*
I’m here to help. Whether you have a clear idea of what you need, or never know what to do with your hands and feet in a picture, I’d like to find and capture your best. I offer reasonably priced mini-portrait sessions, and am willing work with clients on their specific needs.
*Open to pro bono work for public service and ministry events.
